GIS Unit Seeking Colleague for Project Employment – Digitalization of Deed Records and Maps
The GIS Unit is organizationally placed within Strängnäs Municipality's Community Planning Office as one of seven units. We are currently eight engaged employees with various competencies, including the unit manager. In addition to GIS matters, we work on building the municipality's primary map, the 3D city model, surveying operations, drone operations, address and apartment registers, managing the municipality's property and resident registers, etc. – with all that entails. The GIS Unit is also responsible for the analog near-archive, including deed records and parcel division maps.
We are now looking for a colleague for a project employment between 2026-09-01 and 2027-05-31.

Job Responsibilities
Strängnäs Municipality's Community Planning Office has signed an agreement with the Swedish Land Survey (Lantmäteriet) regarding the digitalization and archiving of deed records and parcel division maps. Therefore, we are looking for you to help us with the following:
- Inventorizing the material regarding quantity, order, labeling, demarcation against the Land Survey's archive, and the quality of the material.
- Reconciliation with the Property Register (FR) to determine for which records search data can be obtained from the FR and for which records the FR needs to be supplemented or search data created in another way, followed by necessary registration actions.
- Confidentiality review to identify any security-classified information that the municipality must handle before packing.
- The material needs to be packed and sent to the scanning center for scanning.
The entire work process will be guided by a contact person at the Land Survey.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- A university education relevant to the assignment or other relevant education/experience that the employer deems suitable.
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- Good familiarity with using IT as support in work.
It is highly meritorious if you have education in surveying or similar, as the assignment itself has strong connections to surveying.
We also consider it meritorious if you have:
- Previous experience/knowledge of archival work.
- Experience reading and understanding deed records and parcel division maps, etc.
- Used the Land Survey's digital archive, Arken.
- Experience participating in/working within similar assignments.
